Post-Natal Care in Ayurveda
Post-natal care is tailored to each mother, considering various factors such as the mode of delivery and the physical condition of both mother and baby. The Sutika Kala period lasts one and a half months after delivery. Sutika Paricharya (post-natal care) aims to:
- Restore strength weakened by childbirth
- Eliminate pain after delivery
- Correct digestive and immune systems
- Enable the production of adequate breast milk

Regimens in Sutika Paricharya Include:
- Diet: Nutritious, easy-to-digest foods; frequent small meals; at least 2 liters of water daily.
- Vihara: Proper rest, avoiding physical and mental exertion; Abhyanga with suitable (medicated) oil; Udhwarthanam; medicated baths; Sitz baths; Udaraveshtanam.
- Aushadha: Timely medicines in the form of Arishta, Kashaya, churna, tablets, ghee, and lehya, prescribed based on the mother's health status.
